Project goals
My goals for the project of building a Cigar-Box Guitar consists of
-Solving for a variety of variables related to sound waves and how they travel
-Being able to discuss the creation of sound in a meaningful way, and make physics related comments on the production of musical sound
-I will design and construct a string instrument which will create sound
-I will apply developing knowledge and sound to use and design of the stringed instrument to achieve a desired sound quality

Guitar Box History
In 1840 cigars were packed in small, portable boxes (25-30 each) sometime between 1840-1860 the earliest evidence of cigar-box instruments were found. In 1876 the first illustrated proof of a cigar-box guitar was of two union civil war soldiers sitting around a camp fire. In 1884 Daniel Carter Beard publishes plans for a "Cigar box Banjo" Aka "Uncle Enos Banjo". In the 1930's the great depression motivated homemade instruments mostley cigar box guitars. Now there is a national Cigar box guitar musuem located in Pennsylvania.
